Art-A-Whirl is the largest open studio tour in the country, which happens annually throughout NE Minneapolis the third weekend of May. Each year, DAP displays art from Minnesota locals that speaks to resiliency, healing and domestic violence, interactive art projects to show support for those impacted by domestic violence, as well as provide domestic violence resources + information for the public.

DAP is located in the Waterbury Building in NE Minneapolis and is open to the public! We will be open on May 17th from 5-10PM and May 18th from Noon-6PM.

More about Art-A-Whirl from the Northeast Minneapolis Artists Association (NEMAA): Over 1,200 NEMAA member artists, galleries, and businesses participate across all of Northeast Minneapolis at over 80 locations. Art-A-Whirl is a fantastic way to connect with artists in their own spaces, enjoy demonstrations and interactive activities, listen to live music, and enjoy local restaurants and breweries. Art-A-Whirl is free and open to the public.

Seeking Artists for Art-A-Whirl 2024

We are looking for artists who would like to display their work that speaks to healing, resiliency and/or the impacts of domestic violence at DAP during Art-A-Whirl 2024 (weekend of May 17 – 19, 2024).

If you are interested, please email development@mndap.org to submit your art (images/description of what you want to display) for display during Art-A-Whirl. We are accepting submissions until March 20th, 2024.

Seeking Design Submissions for Artist Designed Swag for Art-A-Whirl & Pride 2024

The details:

  • Designs should speak to healing, social justice, Equity and/or Domestic Violence

  • Art may be printed on: bookmarks, tote bags, sweatshirts, tee-shirts, etc.

  • Accepting submissions until 11:59PM on March 29, 2024

  • Provide the submission as an attachment and a description of submission via email to development@mndap.org

  • 1 winner will be chosen

  • Proceeds from swag will go directly to Domestic Abuse Project to continue to provide services for those impacted by domestic violence

BIPOC, LGBTQIA & people impacted by DV strongly encouraged to submit designs.

We are really excited to announce an opportunity for one local creative to be chosen to have their design printed on swag that will be available for purchase at Art-A-Whirl and Pride. In addition to having the design printed on swag, the artist and design will be featured on our social media, in our newsletter, and on our website. All proceeds of the swag will go directly to supporting DAP's services that provide healing for families impacted by domestic violence.
