St Thomas University Writing Project

university-of-st-thomas-loSpring 2013 DAP partnered with Dr. Lucia Pawlowski, Assistant Director in the English Department at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul on a service learning project for her course Persuasive and Analytical Writing for junior and senior English majors.

The four students who chose DAP spent many hours observing DAP groups, interviewing staff and even sat in on listening sessions with former clients.  The writings the students authored directly acknowledge the fear and revulsion many people experience in addressing domestic abuse, especially before they become educated and involved.    At the same time, their essays demonstrate the welcoming and nonjudgemental culture that DAP is known for.
