Stories of Hope. Stories of Healing.
One of the defining characteristics of DAP’s work is optimism.
We know that the news is full of horror stories, and that sometimes this work feels hopeless. We get down too. But we’ve been doing this long enough to know that healing is possible.
We’ve seen people learn to work out conflict in non-violent ways. We’ve seen people heal from the abuse they’ve suffered. We’ve seen kids who grew up in an abusive home go on to have loving, nurturing adult relationships.
People have the ability to change when they are given the tools and support they need. We know that abuse is a learned behavior, and that it can be unlearned.
The following are a few success stories and words of inspiration from former DAP clients and staff. Names have been changed or abbreviated when necessary.
