Leah Martin, MSW, LGSW
is a Youth and Men’s Therapist at DAP. She earned a BA in psychology from the College of St. Benedict and a Masters of Social Work degree from Augsburg College. She provides both individual and group therapy for children and adolescents who have witnessed and/or experienced abuse in the home as well as individual and group therapy for men who have used abusive behavior. She also works in collaboration with Minneapolis Police Department and the City Attorney’s Office to follow up with families and offer support after police contact. Leah’s previous experience includes time spent in Chicago working with at-risk youth and their families. Upon her return to Minnesota she began working with adolescents with mental health issues in a residential setting as well as with adults and children as a counselor on an inpatient mental health unit. When working with children, Leah places importance on creating a safe and healing environment where youth can explore the strengths and resources they possess to help them grow. She uses a client-centered, attachment, relational and person-in-environment perspective when working with youth and believes that a trusting and supportive relationship in therapy creates a foundation for growth.
