Jill Helgemoe, MA, LAMFT is a Men’s and Change Step Therapist. She received her master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, and is a doctoral candidate in counseling psychology at University of St. Thomas. At Domestic Abuse Project, Jill provides individual, couple, and group therapy to men who have used abusive behavior. Jill provides a client-centered, trauma-informed, strength based, systemic approach in her work with men and couples affected by domestic abuse. She believes each client is the expert of their own lives and that all clients possess the answers to their problems. Jill works collaboratively with her clients in order to identify their goals, highlight their strengths, and assist them in taking the necessary steps to achieve their goals. Jill has certifications in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), EMDR for trauma and neglect, early trauma protocol, EMDR and ego state therapy, clinical hypnosis, and prepare enrich curriculum. She has 13+ years experience in crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy services for families in crisis. She has 3 years experience in community mental health working with individuals, couples, and families.
